The sole basis of our beliefs is the Bible, God's infallible written Word, the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, written by more than 40 writers over an expanse of time, yet still in complete harmony. We believe that it was uniquely and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, and that it was written without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the record of God's revelation of Himself to man; it is our handbook for living; it is our prayer book; and it is God's declaration of love to all humanity. It is complete truth and we can trust it for all matters in this life and eternity.
† God- There are differing ideas about who God is. Most of them have one thing in common...they are a product of human reasoning! When it comes to our creator, it matters very little who we think God is. The Scriptures are the only trustworthy source for understanding who God is. The Bible teaches that God is love, unfailing and unconditional; God is truth, absolutely; and God is Holy, completely. The Bible teaches that God created everything we can see and everything we can't see. Although it might be difficult for human intellect to understand, the Bible teaches that He is one yet has existed since the beginning of time as three distinct and equal persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
† Jesus - Jesus Christ is God, the living Word, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. Jesus Christ is God's Son and an equal of the Father. He has existed from the beginning of time, and he lived on Earth for 33 years over 2000 years ago. Throughout His earthly life, He was completely God and completely human at the same time. After living a perfect, sinless life, Jesus offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for every human being throughout time by dying on a cross. After three days in the grave, He defeated sin and death and rose from the grave. He then ascended to Heaven and was seated at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and man, continually makes intercession for His own.
† Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit is a full and equal part of the Trinity. He has come into the world to reveal and glorify Christ, calling all to Him. He enables us all to understand our need for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit lives inside every one of us from the moment we decide to follow Him. Every believer is called to live in the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, that He will not fulfill the lust of the flesh but will bear fruit to the glory of God.
† Man - In the beginning, God created man in the image of Himself without sin. He gave man the moral ability to choose right from wrong. By the temptation of Satan, man sinned by disobeying God; therefore, we inherit this disobedient heart from Adam, the very first man. Sin will forever keep us from forming a relationship with God, our Creator, unless we accept the gift of salvation, which is Christ.
† Salvation - Our disobedient nature has eternally separated us from God our Creator. No matter how hard we try, we can never earn our way back into God's presence. Our only hope is to trust Jesus as God's provision for our disobedience. God gives His righteousness to anyone who puts faith in Christ alone for salvation, and is thereby justified in His sight. It is the privilege of all who are born of the Spirit to be assured of salvation from the very moment in which we trust Jesus Christ as our Savior. A part of realizing our need for a Savior is turning away from sinful disobedience. God wants us to grow in our relationship with Him and when we continue in sin, it hinders our relationship with Him and others, brings shame on the name of Christ, and causes us and those around us to endure the consequences of sin.
† Grace - Grace is the unmerited favor of God and shows us His goodness; it is something none of us can attain on our own and is completely undeserved. All who have accepted Christ and are set apart will never fall from grace. Believers may sin and grieve the Holy Spirit, but we will be kept by the power of God. When one becomes a believer, he is free from sin's penalty of death but not from sin's power. A battle rages within the believer between the carnal and spiritual natures. When we, as believers, live in continual sin, it hinders the relationship between ourselves and God, but when we confess sin and repent, Christ forgives and cleanses us from sin.
† The Church - The Bible tells us that the church is the body of Christ and He is the Head of the church. The New Testament tells us the church is composed of baptized believers, past, present and future, who have been joined to Him through saving faith. Biblical purposes of the church are worship, evangelism, fellowship, discipleship, and ministry to others. The Lord Jesus Christ commanded all believers to make disciples and to proclaim the Gospel throughout the nations. In other words, we, as a church, are here to know Him and make Him known!
