God is the beginning and the end. He was present before this world began, and He will be present at the end of the age. His Word will never pass away, generation through generation it remains the same. Each generation the people of Jehovah God sing praises, but in a uniqueness to their culture and background (e.g. Gregorian chants, Jewish melodies of the Jerusalem church, hymns put to popular songs from taverns and opera houses in the 1600's to today, where we have computerized, synthesized and every other type of musical genre). It is not the music that makes the song sacred it is the message of the song. Truly, the Holy Spirit has used all different kind of music to bring glory to God.
At Greater Vision Church we sing praise and worship to our unchanging God in a manner which is current to the generation in which we live. We have chosen a contemporary style because it encompasses both horizontal and vertical praise and worship.
Horizontal► When we sing songs of praise about God it edifies the believer. It encourages us when we hear and sing about God's great faithfulness, love and His power in our lives. When we sing praise to our God, the unbeliever/unchurched are a witness to our relationship to Christ and to each other. Jesus said, "If I be lifted up I will draw all men to myself." John 12:32
Vertical► In Scripture we are told multiple times to "sing unto the Lord", with praise and worship music, we do just that. We sing directly to God, we express our love, gratitude and our passion to a merciful God who loved us so much that He paid the ultimate price for us. "Let the whole earth sing to the LORD! Each day proclaim the good news that he saves"" 1 Chronicles 16:23
He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what He has done and be astounded. They will put their trust in the Lord. Psalm 40:3
When you sing praise, your praise affects and changes you, it brings God into your day so He can handle whatever comes your way and it will turn impossibilities into victories.
